Paris in July - Surprise

We currently have over 25 participants signed in at either my blog or Bookbath, which is quite overwhelming and very exciting. To start with, I wanted to award a small surprise to Raidergirl3 at Adventures in Reading for being one of the first to get a post up about Paris in July. We love to see just how you are thinking about using the challenge. So let us know in your posts.

I love surprises, so here's another chance to win something. I'd love to see some posts with recommendations for either books, movies, exhibitions or albums (or recipes etc) that have a french theme. It's an opportunity for you to let other people know what french stuff you've read or watched in the past and help others plan for this July. I'll review posts next week and randomly (or not) select a winner.

Merci and thanks!
What a surprise! I had such fun last year, reading and watching, that I had to sign up right away this year. Have fun everyone.

I just signed up for Paris in July over at Book Bath. Have you read Paris Was Ours? Its a compilation of 20+ essays by writers who have lived in Paris. Its compiled by Penelope Rowlands. I also suggest The Most Beautiful Walk to Remember by John Baxter if you want to go through the literary history and sites in the Latin Quarter (6th Ardondissmont). Have fun in the City of Light!

I love food fiction and nonfiction, so I highly recommend two of my recent favorites: The Belly of Paris by Emile Zola, and The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen by Jacques Pepin, a great memoir. I'm so looking forward to this, I have a big stack of French-themed books that will fit in nicely.

These are some great idea's - thanks. Nari, I've not heard of "Paris was ours" but I like the idea of the essays. I might enjoy reading Baxter's book with the history of Paris.
Karen K, I've tried reading a bit of emile Zola, should try again some time. Anything about food and wine in Paris is my cup of tea!
